We are very proud to say that Landrex Inc. has hit a tremendous milestone, 50 years in business! After 50 years, we are still going strong and ready to celebrate. As we prepare for our next 50 years developing communities and commercial spaces, let’s take a look back at our proud history…
1972: The Year it All Began
Our founder, Larry Andrews, started Landrex Inc. in 1972 after amalgamating his conglomerate, Gibraltar Group of Companies, into a single entity. Larry sought to create a developer empire, thus our name ‘Rex’ (Latin for King) was added to Land. Landrex has been developing all over the world, but our primary point of business has been Edmonton and its surrounding areas.
1989: Partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters
1989 was the first year Landrex Inc. partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters. Landrex has worked to support this fantastic charity for over 30 years, and we have continued to support them in building Dream Homes. Landrex Inc. donates the lot for the Dream Home, provides a builder from our builder group, and provides landscaping and marketing assistance. Check out our piece in the St. Albert Gazette to learn more. In 2021, Larry Andrews received the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area President’s Award, and Landrex has been the presenting sponsor for the Children First Golf Classic tournament for the Boys and Girls Club Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area since 2001.
2013: Landrex Inc. Is Distinguished by St. Albert Chamber of Commerce Chair
In 2013, our organization received the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce Chair’s Award of Distinction. This award was an incredible honour to receive, as the award signifies Landrex’s outstanding achievements and commitment to business leadership. We are very proud to have our decades of experience, consistent community and charitable involvement, and hard work recognized.
2020: New and Exciting Partnerships
In 2020, we partnered with Fort McKay First Nation for our first project together, East Pine, located in Beaumont. In 2022, we will be breaking ground on our second project together in St. Albert, a multi-use development containing both residential and commercial opportunities. Fort McKay First Nation and Landrex Inc. share several business goals and values, and both companies foresee collaborating on projects in the future.
Landrex’s Next 50 Years
Landrex Inc. has many new and exciting projects in the works, including new community developments, adding new building opportunities to our existing communities, and many commercial projects to help local businesses flourish. Landrex is fully committed to supporting the communities we work and build in, and will continue to provide sponsorships, donations, and volunteer hours to many different organizations and communities.
